HELP FOR HAITI
How You Can Help With Earthquake Relief
In response to the catastrophic earthquake that struck the island nation of Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010, the Bay Ridge Prep community has joined the international relief efforts currently underway. Here are ways that you can help:
DONATION JUGS AT BAY RIDGE PREP - Donation jugs have been set up at the Lower/Middle School and the High School buildings. Drop off anything from loose change to a few dollars. All the funds collected will be donated to relief funds.
FUNDRAISERS AT BAY RIDGE PREP - Students have organized several fundraisers such as bake sales to take place over the next few days. All money raised from these small fundraisers will go toward earthquake relief funds.
FOOD, WATER & CLOTHING DRIVE - Bay Ridge Prep students have organized drives to collect clothing, bottled water and non-perishable foods to send to Haiti. You can drop these items off in our main offices at both buildings.
Text the word "Haiti" to the number "90999" and a $10 donation to the Red Cross will be charged to your cell phone bill.
Musician Wyclef Jean has also set up a text message donation number. Text the word "Yele" to the number "501501" to donate $5 to the Yele Foundation, which directs 100% of the money it receives to relief aid.
HELP SPREAD THE WORD ONLINE - Use your Facebook, Twitter and other social networking accounts to spread the word about how others can help those in need. Consider updating your status with a way to give through text messaging or with a website address that people can use to donate money online.
KNOW SOMEONE AFFECTED BY THE EARTHQUAKE? - Harding Consulting has created the Haiti Pro Bono Project to help anyone who has been affected by the tragic earthquake in Haiti. Licensed, professional mental health consultants will provide free counseling to those in need. The free counseling sessions are available to anyone who would like to have a telephone or in-office session. Call 410-774-0229 / 800-372-1466 to schedule an appointment.
