Congratulations are in order for a few of Bay Ridge Prep's Lower School students who competed in the 44th Annual Greater New York Elementary Chess Championship at the New Yorker Hotel on January 31. Alec Bulkin '19, Justim Kim '18, Alexander Pellitteri '18, and Erica Pye '17, all worked together to help Bay Ridge Prep win third place in the junior varsity competition.

For the twelfth consecutive year, Mother Nature cleared the skies and brought out the sun for Bay Ridge Prep’s annual Turkey Trot fun run. After an initial forecast of clouds and showers, hundreds of Bay Ridge Prep students, faculty, parents and alumni woke up to a surprisingly sunny, warm 62ºF day and showed up for the school’s most popular tradition, held this year on Friday, November 20, at the park on Shore Road and 79th Street. The event, which brought together the school community for an afternoon of fun and fitness, also served as the kick off to the school’s annual fund campaign. More details at www.bayridgeprep.org

Five of Bay Ridge Prep's faculty members ran the 2009 ING NYC Marathon on Sunday, November 1, while the Jazz Band played on Fourth Avenue. They joined 40,000 runners and nearly two million spectators who came out for the annual New York City tradition.

Bay Ridge Preparatory School kicked off the new school year by welcoming over 350 students through its doors - a new record enrollment number for the twelve year old prep school. In addition to record enrollment numbers, Bay Ridge Prep announced that it will begin implementing new technologies this year to help the school "go green" and become more conscious of its impact on the environment. Bay Ridge Preparatory School celebrated the graduation of 36 seniors at its Eleventh Annual Commencement on Friday, May 29, at the Brooklyn Museum. The ceremony featured emotional speeches by students reflecting on their time at Bay Ridge Prep as well as special recognition for some graduates. More @ www.bayridgeprep.org

New York State Senator Martin J. Golden visited Bay Ridge Preparatory School on Friday, May 1, to give special recognition to the school's championship junior varsity boys basketball team. In celebration of the team's victory in the championship game of the Private School Athletic Association in February, Senator Golden presented a New York State Senate Resolution commending the team on their achievements.

Bay Ridge Preparatory School’s Carpe Diem Theatre Troupe will stage its annual spring performance on Friday, May 8 at 8 p.m., with an encore performance on Saturday, May 9 at 8 p.m. According to its directors, this year’s production – the musical comedy “Anything Goes” – will be one of the funniest and finest performances by Bay Ridge Prep’s High School Theatre Department.

Headmasters Charles Fasano, Ph.D., and Michael Dealy, Ph.D., issued a letter declaring that the state of the school is "stronger than ever". In addition to that, several aspects of Bay Ridge Prep were highlighted as some of the things that are making the school stand out.
